Internship Overview

Waterberg District Municipality in Modimolle, Limpopo, welcomes applications from unemployed South African graduates for its Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) 2025. It is a structured training initiative designed to provide practical experience in municipal finance.

Internship Details

  • Location: Modimolle, Limpopo
  • Contract Duration: 36 months (fixed-term)
  • Stipend: R100,000 per annum (all-inclusive)

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • A three-year National Diploma or BCom Degree in one of the following fields:
    • Financial Management
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Finance (including Risk Management and/or Auditing)
  • No prior work experience required
  • Must be between 21 and 35 years old
  • Must not have previously participated in an internship programme

Key Learning & Work Areas

Interns will gain hands-on exposure to:

  • Implementing GRAP standards and budget reforms
  • Preparing financial and performance reports
  • Managing change, risk, and projects
  • Overseeing expenditure, revenue, and supply chain functions
  • Applying Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) regulations
  • Managing assets in a municipal environment
