As the festive season approaches, recipients of social grants from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) are being advised to prepare for the year-end payment schedule.
For December 2025, SASSA has confirmed that regular social grants — including older persons, disability, and children’s grants — will be disbursed in the first week of the month.
Specifically, the schedule is:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 2 December 2025
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 3 December 2025
- Children’s and other grants: Thursday, 4 December 2025
For beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD grant, amount R370), SASSA has scheduled the December 2025 payment window between 24 and 30 December. Check your SRD payment dates here.
At this stage, there is no official statement from SASSA indicating that payments have been moved forward beyond the announced December dates due to Christmas or winter holiday considerations. The December 2025 schedule appears consistent with previous years’ end-of-year grant disbursements.
Beneficiaries are therefore recommended to check their payment status via official SASSA channels and plan withdrawals accordingly — especially since the regular grants arrive early in the month, and SRD payments are slated for later in December.
