DHET Graduate Internship & WIL Programme 2025–2027

Programme Overview

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Graduate Internship & Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for 2025–2027. Interns will gain experience across various fields within multiple regional offices.

Contract & Stipend

  • Duration: 24 months (fixed-term)
  • Stipends:
    • Graduate Intern: R7 860.40 per month
    • WIL Student: R6 659.40 per month

Internship Locations & Fields

Free State – Curriculum & Institutional Support (Regional Office, Bloemfontein)

  • Fields include IT, Office Administration, HR, Financial Management, Marketing, with N6 in Marketing Management, HRM, Financial Management, or Management Assistant

Free State – CET College (Bloemfontein)

  • Same fields and N6 streams as above

Limpopo – CET College (Polokwane)

  • Fields include IT, Public Management, HR, Financial Management, Marketing, Project Management, Psychology, with N6 streams like above

Gauteng – Curriculum & Institutional Support (Marshalltown, Johannesburg)

  • Fields: Public Management, Office Management

Pretoria Head Office – GITO & Corporate Services

  • Roles across:
    • IT (Service Desk, Application Development)
    • Information & Knowledge Management
    • Records Management & Corporate Communications
    • Fields include Information Science, Library Science, Communication Studies, PR, Journalism, Graphic Design, Public Affairs, Marketing, and Management Assistant

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant National Diploma/Degree, or N6 (for WIL stream)
  • Must be a South African citizen, unemployed, and must not have previously served as a Graduate Intern or contract worker in public service
  • Willingness to undergo verification of qualifications, citizenship, security vetting, and reference checks
  • SAQA evaluation required if using foreign qualifications

Submit the following:

  • Completed and signed Z83 form (indicating the field you’re applying for)
  • A comprehensive CV only (supporting documents will be requested from shortlisted candidates)

  2. Post: Send to The Director-General, DHET, Private Bag X174, Pretoria, 0001 (marked for Training and Development Unit)
  3. Hand Deliver: Deliver at 123 Francis Baard Street, Pretoria (Reception Area)

Note: If applying for multiple fields, submit a separate Z83 and CV for each one.
